Development Engineer Industrial Air Filtration

(Leuven – full time – m/f)

 

Industrial Air Filtration (IAF) products protect the environment and improve people’s lives by reducing pollution indoor and emissions to the outdoor. Specifically, this technology cuts the emissions of dust, oil mist and fumes across a wide range of applications. End-users of our products are within the whole of the industrial market which we access through OEM, multinationals, key end-users and approved resellers.

 

Purpose of the position:

  • You will be a member of the team that develops future industrial air filtration (IAF) products.
  • You will manage and coordinate part of the development of a new dust collector product line, in order to strengthen our current product portfolio. Your focus is on finding novel solutions during the concept phase and translating them into commercially viable options in later phases.
    • You will manage product testing, benchmarking programs and research efforts
    • You will also develop and/or update the processes and tools used by our product support groups
  • You will manage your project using our APD (Accelerated Product Development) framework. You will be the link between the involved departments across the business.
  • For a correct application of the product into the European market you will be responsible to ensure the product complies with the latest European legislation and standards. An understanding of our industry applications will help you design better products.
  • You will attend conferences and follow industry literature. You keep track of the pulse of the industry and apply this knowledge to the daily R&D work.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • You hold a Master Degree in Engineering
  • You have 5-10 years of experience in product development and/or project management in a multinational or academic context, related to industrial design.
  • Specific knowledge of at least one of the following engineering disciplines is a requirement: FEA/CFD – Food and Hygienic design – Sheet Metal Construction
  • Understanding from at least 1 of the relevant European directives for industrial design is an asset (Machinery 2006/42/EC, PED 2014/68/EU, Product liability 85/374/EEC, ATEX 2014/34/EU, Low voltage 2014/35/EU, Noise 2003/10/EC, Construction Products Regulation 305/2011/EU, EMC 2014/30/EU, Data protection IoT – 2016/679)
  • Strong in conceptual thinking & problem solving. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated capabilities in creativity, design, project leadership.
  • Fluent in English. Dutch, French or German is an asset.
  • Flexibility to travel within Europe – visiting our Donaldson locations and external partners
